Sales Operations System
Fields can be added to the standard records to hold information specific to the business.
Every business tracks something the vendor did not anticipate. What varies is how many fields are permitted, which record types accept them, and how many field types are on offer, because a dropdown and a free-text box are not equivalent when you later want to report on the answer.
Yes where fields can be added to the sales records and the platform offers a range of field types, including at least one structured choice type such as a dropdown.
Partial where custom fields exist but are confined to some record types and not others, or where the only type available is free text.
No where the record structure is fixed.
Permitted field counts are noted where documented but are not scored, because they are governed by account limits rather than by the platform's capability.
Administrators create new fields, modify existing fields, build drop-down lists and calculated date fields, and place fields on the record layout, all from the customisation tools inside the product.
Custom deal fields come in ten types including text, text area, number, money, date, dropdown, list box, radio, checkbox and hidden, and they can be used to filter the pipeline and to build segments. Account records also take custom fields.
Every app has a master layout in which new sections are added in one or two column arrangements and attributes dragged into them. Documented attribute types include text, text area, email, phone, link, number, currency, counter, radio, checkbox, dropdown, date, address, file, reference to another app and a reference app field, function and spacer. An inspector panel configures the selected field and a revision tab shows past changes to the layout and restores an earlier version.
Custom attributes can be created on any object in Attio, standard or custom. The documented types are formula, status, user, select and multi-select, text, date and timestamp, number, currency, checkbox, rating, record, relationship, location and phone number. Relationship attributes create a reciprocal link between records, and formula attributes derive values from other attributes.
Custom fields can be added to the Contacts, Companies, Products, Pipelines, Tasks, Events and Calls modules. The documented types are single and multi line text, number, long number, decimal, percent, auto number, currency, date, date and time, email, phone, URL, single and multi select picklist, checkbox, lookup, user and formula. The per module ceiling varies by subscription level.
Custom attributes are created from the People and Company sections and managed in settings, where lead, company and deal attributes each have their own screen. The API attributes guide documents select, multi-select, location, date and relation types alongside text, numeric and boolean values, with relation linking one record to another. The vendor lists a substantially expanded field type system, including date pickers and status fields, as still to come.
Custom fields can be defined on parties, opportunities and projects, with text, number, date, list and boolean types. They can be grouped under DataTags so that a set of fields appears only on records carrying the relevant tag.
Custom fields can be defined on Leads, Contacts, Opportunities and Custom Activities. Eleven types are documented - dropdown single, dropdown multiple, contact single, contact multiple, date, date and time, number, text, textarea for custom activities, user single and user multiple - plus a hidden type for API use that is excluded from lead search and from export.
Twelve custom field types are available - text, text area, dropdown, date, checkbox, number, URL, percentage, currency, multi-select dropdown, tags and connect fields - and can be added to leads, people, companies, opportunities, projects and tasks. Only administrators and account owners can create them.
Eight custom field types are documented - text, numeric, date, single select, multiple select, contact reference, user reference and object reference. Numeric fields carry a configuration for decimal places and a format of default, none, number, percent or currency. Fields are defined at group level, names must be unique within a group, and removing a record from a group removes the values it held for that group's fields.
Admins can add custom fields to contacts, accounts and deals across ten field types, including text, number, checkbox, radio, dropdown, date picker, multi-select, formula, lookup and auto-number, with required, unique and read-only properties. Custom fields can also be added to sales activities.
Custom properties can be created on contacts, companies, deals, tickets, line items and other objects, in a range of field types including text, number, date, dropdown enumeration, calculation, file, URL and HubSpot user. The number available depends on the subscription.
Insightly offers sixteen custom field types for numbers, dates and text, added per object, with page layouts controlling which fields appear, to whom and in what order.
Custom fields are documented on contact records, on company records and on deals. Types include text, text area, whole number, decimal, percent, currency, date, day of week, month, year, radio, dropdown, checkboxes, user, email, phone, state and website. Deal fields are created from the deal record and arranged into sections with a per-pipeline layout editor, and a field's type cannot be changed once created.
Makers add columns to shipped tables such as Opportunity through the Power Apps table designer. Available types include text and multiline text, whole, decimal and floating point numbers, currency, date only and date and time, yes/no, choice and multi-select choice, lookup, file and image, autonumber, and calculated, rollup and Power Fx formula columns. Data type cannot be changed after a column is saved.
Every board is built from user-added columns of many types - status, dropdown, date, numbers, people, email, phone, link, formula, connect boards and mirror among them - and vendor documentation records a ceiling on columns per board. Field configuration is the normal way of working rather than an add-on.
Eight custom field types are available - short text, long text, select box, true/false flag, user, date, address and number - and they can be added to contact and company records and to deals, where they are defined per pipeline. A field type cannot be changed once chosen.
Custom fields can be created on companies, people and leads. Lead fields cover text, long text, number, currency, date, email, decision, address, phone, URL and product; company and person fields cover text, long text, number, date, company type, currency and decision. Custom fields can also be created during a data import.
Sixteen custom field types are available - text, large text, single option, multiple options, autocomplete, numerical, monetary, user, organisation, person, phone, time, time range, date, date range and address. Fields can be added to leads and deals, persons, organisations, products and projects. The number of custom fields permitted is governed by account usage limits.
Custom fields can be added at each level of the hierarchy, including Contact, Opportunity and Problem. Up to forty are permitted per level, split by type: ten text or URL, five number, five date, five yes/no flag, five memo, five drop-down and three searchable. Drop-down fields accept unlimited options but display fifty in the list, with the remainder reachable by typing.
Custom fields are added to standard and custom objects from Object Manager in Setup, and standard fields can also be customised.
Columns are the custom fields of a pipeline. The documented types are free form for text or numbers, date with configurable display format, checkbox, dropdown for a single predefined option, tag for several predefined options, assigned to, contacts and organisations, and formula. Magic columns derived from email activity and AI autofill columns populate themselves, and custom fields can also be added to the contacts and organisations list.
Modules are extended with custom blocks and custom fields, and picklist field values are added and edited per module under configuration settings, with a colour and an assignment permission per value. The Deals module specifically carries custom fields, including on its line item block, and the vendor documents what to do when the field limit for a block is reached.
A wide set of custom field types is available, including single and multi-line text, rich text, currency, single and multi-select picklists, radio buttons, number and slider fields, date, lookup and multi-select lookup, auto number, user fields, file and image upload, and rollup summary fields. The vendor states the maximum number of fields per module, and the cap on certain field types, varies by subscription.
